Japanese curry is one of the most popular dishes in Japan and it is also known as “kare raisu.” It is a very delicious, filling and easy to make dish. Basically, it will be served with fluffy white rice and most of the people in Japan love this dish a lot. The basic ingredients to cook Japanese curry are vegetables like onion, carrots and potatoes. As for meat, you can choose beef, pork or even chicken, it all depends on your own taste and preferences. Well, to make Japanese curry, only a few steps are needed because it is easy to make.

First of all, you need to prepare ingredients like meat, potatoes, carrots, onions, garlic, water, curry roux, and oil. Then, heat your sauce pan until it is hot. Add in a tablespoon of oil together with your onions and garlic. Fry them until you can smell a nice scent then add in meat cubes, you can either use chicken of beef for this. If you prefer healthier alternatives, you can put in tofu and vegetables instead of meat. Bear in mind that white meat is always better than red meat, so, chicken is also a good idea if you prefer healthier food.
After the meat has turned brown, add in your carrots and potatoes into the saucepan. Mix them well so that the vegetables can absorb the meat’s gravy. Next, add two cups of water and let it simmer. After five minutes, you can add the curry roux while stirring. Remember to mix it well. If you like heavier flavors, you can add more curry roux to make the sauce thicker. Then, just wait for it to simmer and let the sauce thicken until it reaches what you desire. If you want it to be thick, then the simmering process may take up to ten minutes or slightly lesser than that.
You can now serve the curry with fluffy white rice. Add some decorations to the plate so that it will look nicer and make your guest or family member go crazy for it. Japanese curry is so easy to make and it is a good idea to be served to guests when they visit you. Having it during a special occasion is also another brilliant idea.
